A very cool 1940s-50s panel-front casual
jacket in classic 100% Rayon Gabardine, Solid and Two-Tone, or scarce
Morning Silk, so-called because this fantastic material was what the morning
coats of the gentry were made of in the early 20th century! Note
semi-elasticized waist. Twin, hidden front pockets. Hip, fun and unique,
because it's new, not a musty thrift shop or hand-me-down find. No kitsch or
camp in this Lost Worlds gem (despite the background postcard shots on this page
-- would that the real America was still as pure and innocent and fun as old
postcards!), rather a distillation of a classic style into a pure, hip form,
rendering a casual modern jacket with a vintage feel for the man who
respects and searches for superb tailoring and detailing. But likes his bit
of insouciance and daring too. We think different is better, not scary or
over-the-top -- it's the "normal" that's scary, mandated by the Thought-less
Police and the idiot ideologues whose base fundamentalism is guised under
the have-a-nice-day ethic. We wonder if those old silly days of "What's your
sign?" weren't morally superior to what we're drowning in now, the
occupation of the mind-snatchers. Has your Big Mac been blessed by the
mullah? |
